Doha - Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa conveyed his appreciation to Morocco during a January 19 telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita acknowledging the North African country’s sustained humanitarian endeavors.
“The Prime Minister voiced his gratitude to the king, government, and people of Morocco for their unflagging support to Palestine,” read the Palestinian prime ministry’s statement on X platform.
Mustafa particularly “commended Morocco’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to end the occupation, achieve freedom, independence, and establish a Palestinian state.”
Throughout the genocide, Morocco’s commitment manifested in tangible aid deliveries to Gaza, despite logistical hurdles.
The public sphere echoed this support, with demonstrations cascading through more than 50 Moroccan cities, from Rabat to Tangier, where citizens gathered weekly in solidarity with Palestinians.
Even diplomatically, Morocco’s support did not waver. Today, at the United Nations Security Council in New York, Ambassador Omar Hilale articulated the country’s consistent position.
“The ceasefire agreement should forge a path toward reconstruction and initiate an authentic peace process, enabling the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he said.
He further said that “continuing unilateral Israeli measures” in Al-Quds fuel tensions. King Mohammed VI, as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, insists on preserving the legal, historical, and demographic status of the holy city, as it represents the intersection of three monotheistic religions and embodies values of mutual respect and dialogue.
As Ambassador Hilale noted, Gaza “must be an integral part of the independent Palestinian territories where legal and political jurisdiction belongs to the Palestinian National Authority.”
